Update

If you have visited the site recently, and it was down, it was because of my switching of Comcast accounts since I got married a few weeks ago. Now it is good to go! Although now I am going to have to change everything on my site to Shauhn Edwards instead of Caughron. It's a good thing I haven't become famous yet with that name! Haha

I have added a couple of things to the site. One is an Airope logo which I am pretty proud of. That one took me a while of consulting with everyone at my company to get to a final result/ finished product. I am very happy with the final logo. Projects for work don't always turn out like I might do if it were only my opinion, but of course there is a big man, however I can say the final Airope logo was pretty much exactly what I would have chosen. Logos are tough. They have to be readable at so many different sizes, work in black and white, and represent the product/company/whatever it is used for to a T.
This really does make it hard! Logos are one of my favorite thing to do, though.

A couple weeks ago, I was added onto a team of designers at a new company called Designs in a Day. It will be a website where one can go and request a design for anything, and a proof will be available within 24 hours by one of the designers. I believe there are currently 6 of us. I am very excited to be part of this team as I will always enjoy any freelance work I can get.

I FINALLY graduate in December and am stoked!! I will be starting with Power Systems on January 5th full-time and I am really excited about that too. I will finally be settling into a normal life with a normal full-time job. Who knows, I may get antsy and take some more classes every now and then to keep my brain fresh, but for the most part, I am done learning for a while! And it feels great.

Creative test

  • Mood: busy
A co-worker sent this around a couple months ago, and I thought it was interesting. Some of the criteria to decide if you are a creative person or not was iffy, but the results are still worth keeping in mind. I printed them off and put them by my desk area.

Check it out.

First real post- yeay!

Okay, so a co-worker sent an e-mail to me and a few others about re-designing your workspace regularly with the intention of inspiring you. The wording went something like this:

Ways to Generate Creativity:
Deliberately manipulate the physical and social environment.
Redecorate your work space, put unusual objects on your desk.

I think this is very plausible. I have noticed, often times, that I am more creative and inspired when I see something unusual or when I am in a place that feels fresh.
If we are sitting at a desk for 8 hours, especially in a cube, looking at the same things around us every day, it gets boring and monotonous. Keeping things different/having new surroundings in the work area just may be the ticket to more creativity. I already ran to Walmart and bought a whole bunch of newly designed stuff that I really like, for organizational purposes.  The files and desk pad look great on my desk! They look very fresh.

Also, I came across some great sites through StumbleUpon that inspire me.
One is of stationary that is absolutely beautiful.

One is of some great photoshop text techniques

and the last is a really fun one where all you do is draw with the mouse. You cannot click anywhere else. As soon as you go to the site, the canvas is the screen. Each time you click, a new color comes out. Very very cool and addictive, if you have the time to play with it.

The end, for now.
